Why should I join?
Joining the League of Women Voters is a great way to learn about governmental issues and play an active role in our democracy. The League studies a broad range of issues in order to arrive, through bottoms-up consensus, at local, state and national policy positions (link to take action) from which we can advocate.
Our volunteers work to register new voters, host candidate and ballot issue forums, offer educational events, and provide voters with up-to-date election information.
We engage elected officials at the local, state and national levels on legislative priorities and efforts to safeguard and improve our election systems.
Your participation allows us to host local events and forums, to lobby our state legislators on important policy issues and to help protect and defend our democracy in our state, and at the federal level, often through the court systems. Your dues also help underwrite the State Ballot Issues Pamphlets which are widely distributed and used by voters to help them understand the complexities.
Our member meetings are educational and informative, with local and state speakers on a variety of topics relevant to our mission. We meet women and men as passionate as ourselves about our country. We also have fun!
